Ultra Challenge : Lake District 100km

Yesterday was the greatest trail running experience of my life to date. To explore the Lake District on one of the most beautiful days of the year was an incredible privilege. The views throughout the route quite literally took my breath away; not always ideal when you kind of need that same breath to run!

I’m still processing the experience, but I must extend a huge thank you to everyone connected with Ultra Challenge for making it such a memorable one. The love, support and encouragement shown at each aid station along the route always had such a positive effect; spurring me on to tackle the next segment.

Congratulations to all participants, and I must give special mention to all those walking the course. These guys and gals will likely be on their feet for well over 24-hours, navigating technical terrain in the dark. To me that’s mind blowing.

… and lastly in this rather drawn out post; I’d like to thank everyone for their kind messages of support. Knowing that my family and friends were following the live tracker only added to the collective experience and my own personal strength.

I crossed the finish line, in 12:51:17 which was enough to achieve a tenth place finish. What a way to spend a day!
