This dude was a few miles from the finish of Hurtwood 50Km Trail Ultramarathon on Sunday; positioned perfectly to provide a little power. The legs were like lead and the mind was tired, yet the moment I tapped his sign, I felt a surge of energy.
Whether in a structured race setting or the daily grind of life, any adversity is made easier with a word of encouragement, and a smile from a fellow human.
It’s easy to know and appreciate suffering in an ultra marathon context, it’s not so easy in daily life. So just give that smile as often as you can. It may just serve as the ‘power’ for the recipient to overcome their next hurdle.
