SDW100 Block Week 1 Summary

A big week of training in the books. 97.5 miles and 11,926 ft elevation.

I had hoped to hit 100-miles and 12,000 ft elevation but fell short by a whisker.

With just under 4-weeks until Centurion Running South Downs Way 100-miles, it’s been a real confidence booster to replicate the distance and elevation (almost) this past week.

Now a gradual taper will commence. 75-miles this upcoming week, 50-miles the next and the odd run sprinkled in during the week leading into the race on Saturday 11th June.

All runs are being conducted with a heart rate strap, with strict discipline to not go above 146 beats per minute. This training protocol is called ‘Maffetone 180 formula’ and it’s absolutely worth a search if you’re interested in developing as a runner.

Loving the process.
