As I’m sure you’re aware if you’ve been with me on this Smilinggg journey for a while, that my annual Smilinggg fundraiser for Samaritans Charity is an important focus on the calendar each year.
It provides great meaning, a deep sense of purpose and a decent amount of structure to my days that is so valuable to my wellbeing.
It gets me out of the door on those days when you’d rather not.
And whilst I like to think my Instagram documents the journey, with memorable moments shared along the way; I don’t wish it to be a place for daily stats of my workouts etc. That’s what I use Strava for.
Having said that, on the first of each month I’ll provide the training stats from the previous month.
Right now, I’m formulating 2021’s Smilinggg fundraiser. But it’s safe to say, I’m building the base to be capable of giving my best chance to succeed when the challenge rolls around, later in the year.
If you’ve made it this far; below are January’s training stats.
⏰ 67 Hours Trained
🏃🏻♂️ 17 Runs / 36h 38m / 224 miles / 24,426 ft Elevation Gain
🚴♂️ 8 Rides / 21h 6m / 283 miles / 23,458 ft Elevation Gain
🧘🏻♂️ 6 Practices / 3h / @downdogapp
*The remaining hours made up of walks and hikes.
So I’ll close this rather long winded post with Epictetus.
“We must undergo a hard winter training and not rush into things for which we haven't prepared.”
